Laura and Jenet met through American Mahjong and quickly discovered a shared passion for the game and the friendships it creates. Do I need to know how to play?
Not at all! Our Mahjong 101 sessions are designed for complete beginners and newer players who want to learn the game in a relaxed, supportive environment.
I’ve played before. Which session is right for me?
If you already know the basics of American Mahjong and can comfortably follow the NMJL card, Open Play is the perfect choice.
Do I need to bring my own Mahjong set?
No. We provide everything you’ll need to play, including tiles, racks, dice, and game accessories.
How long do the sessions last?
Most Open Play sessions last approximately 2½ hours. Check the registration page for upcoming dates and times.
Are beverages avaialble
Absolutely. Harbor & Hops offers a full menu of handcrafted food, craft beer, wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages. Complimentary water and tea are also available during play.
Do I need to register in advance?
Yes. Registration helps us prepare enough tables and seating so everyone has a great experience.
Can I come by myself?
Of course! Many of our players come on their own. Pongs & Pints is a friendly, welcoming community, and it’s a great way to meet new people who share your interest in Mahjong.
Is there an age requirement?
American Mahjong is enjoyable for adults of all ages. We recommend participants be at least 18 years old unless accompanied by an adult.
